| cholestanetriol 26-monooxygenase |
[EC 1.14.13.15] an enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that hydroxylates 5β-cholestane-3α,7α,12α-triol (or any of several related intermediates) as a step in the major biosynthetic pathway of bile acids from cholesterol. Deficiency of the enzyme, an autosomal recessive trait, results in cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis. Called also 27-hydroxylase.
